Josh Maja Reaches Verbal Agreement with Burnley as Clarets Seek Attacking Reinforcement

Burnley Football Club has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Nigerian international Josh Maja, as the club aims to strengthen its attacking options ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The 26-year-old forward, currently with West Bromwich Albion, has attracted interest from multiple clubs following his impressive performances in the Championship. Maja, who began his professional career at Sunderland before moving to Bordeaux in 2019, has since had loan spells at Fulham and Stoke City. In August 2024, he signed a three-year contract with West Brom, where he has excelled, registering ten goals and two assists in 24 appearances. His form has drawn attention from Premier League clubs, including Southampton, Bournemouth, and Ipswich Town.

Burnley’s manager, Scott Parker, has emphasized the urgent need to improve the team’s attacking capabilities. Despite maintaining the best defensive record in Europe—keeping 22 clean sheets in 31 matches—the Clarets have struggled in front of goal, enduring ten goalless games this season. Parker has stressed that the team must enhance its overall attacking structure rather than rely solely on individual talent.

The signing of Maja is expected to provide a significant boost to Burnley’s offensive setup. Known for his clinical finishing and ability to contribute to build-up play, Maja’s versatility will complement the club’s existing squad. His experience in both English football and international competition makes him a valuable asset as Burnley continues its push for promotion to the Premier League.

With the transfer window approaching, supporters will be eager to see how Maja’s arrival influences Burnley’s performances in the Championship. The club hopes this strategic acquisition will help secure a return to the top tier of English football
