Roosters Premiership Hero lands new Coaching Role

Premiership-winning Sydney Roosters legend Luke Keary will take on a high-profile coaching role this year after being appointed head coach of the LA Roosters for the upcoming Las Vegas Nines tournament.

Keary, a central figure in the Roosters’ historic back-to-back NRL premiership triumphs in 2018 and 2019, continues to strengthen his post-playing legacy with the club by stepping into an international development role aimed at growing rugby league in the United States.

The Las Vegas Nines, a fast-paced nine-a-side format held as part of the NRL’s expanding presence in the US, has become a key platform for promoting the sport to new audiences. Keary’s appointment adds significant credibility and star power to the LA Roosters project, which is backed by Sydney Roosters chairman Nick Politis and closely aligned with the NRL’s broader international strategy.

Currently working within the Roosters’ coaching structure under Trent Robinson, Keary’s Vegas role is viewed as both a reward for his leadership qualities and a valuable step in his coaching development. His deep understanding of the Roosters’ systems and culture is expected to translate seamlessly into the short, high-intensity Nines format.

The LA Roosters squad will also feature notable NRLW stars, further underlining the ambition behind the project and the desire to showcase elite rugby league talent on a global stage.

For Keary, the Las Vegas Nines represents more than just a tournament—it is another chapter in his enduring connection with the Roosters and an opportunity to help shape the future of the game beyond Australia.
