SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners have confirmed that former Mariners pitcher Ryan Rowland‑Smith and Washington Huskies legend and broadcaster Angie Mentink will return to the club’s broadcast team for the 2026 season, providing continuity for fans ahead of a new era for the franchise’s game coverage.
The announcement comes as the club transitions away from Root Sports Northwest, the regional network that had carried Mariners telecasts for more than two decades before shutting down after the 2025 season. In its place, Major League Baseball and the Mariners are launching new broadcast and streaming plans, including a direct‑to‑consumer service called “Mariners.TV,” cable and satellite coverage, and broader access across platforms.
Under the new structure, Rowland‑Smith and Mentink will be part of a familiar lineup alongside lead television voice Aaron Goldsmith, who returns for his 14th season with the organization. Other veteran voices set to appear include Jay Buhner, Dave Valle and Brad Adam in various broadcast roles.
While most of the familiar broadcast personalities are returning in 2026, longtime field reporter Jen Mueller will not be back after stepping away from her role with the team’s media coverage. Fans expressed appreciation for her many years covering Mariners games on social platforms.
In a notable development for Mariners history, iconic radio voice Rick Rizzs announced that the 2026 season will be his final one behind the microphone. Rizzs has spent more than four decades calling Mariners baseball and is widely regarded as one of the franchise’s most enduring figures.
As the franchise embraces changes in how fans watch and listen to games, the Mariners’ decision to retain key broadcast voices brings a sense of familiarity for supporters heading into the new season.
